Listening Skills Rubric

Students need to learn to become better listeners. Businesses, schools, and other organizations have learned from experience that success or failure often depends on how well people listen. It seems that many people do not listen well.
Hearing and listening are not the same thing. To hear is just to pick up sounds with your ears. To listen is to grasp the ideas that sounds such as words carry. In order to become a successful listener, you need to first prepare yourself to listen, and then spot the main ideas in the words that you hear.
